Town of Hiles Board Meeting
Wednesday, July 7, 2010
Hiles Town Hall
Chairman Trent Miner called the meeting to order at 6:30 pm.
Members present were: Chairman Trent Miner, Supervisor Tom Gardner, Supervisor Steve Meis, Treasurer Kimberly Miner, and Clerk Janice Schultz.
The minutes of the June 8, 2010, Hiles Town Board meeting were read. Moved by Supervisor Gardner and seconded by Supervisor Meis to approve as presented. Motion carried.
The Treasurer’s report was presented and is attached. Moved by Supervisor Meis and seconded by Supervisor Gardner to approve as presented. Motion carried.
Results of Berry Road TRIP project – After checking with the county and the TRIP rules, we were able to accept the county’s quote over the bid from American Asphalt which was a savings of about $15,000.00. Should begin project late July or beginning of August.
Roads
• Town of Cary was called to grade, not sure if they have finished as the weather has been so wet. They will complete once the weather cooperates.
• Mowing has been happening in the Town of Dexter, will be in the Town of Hiles soon. Was reported by Board members that mowing had started today.
Review correspondence
• Neighbor issues down Hoffman Road that involved the Sheriff’s Department was shared with the Board. Chairman Miner received call from the resident to see if there was anything the town could do. After discussion, determined that additional ordinances would not be introduced.
• Town of Hiles portion of the census is complete and all items have been destroyed. The “Return or Destruction of Title 13, USC Materials” form was completed, signed, and returned by Chairman Miner on June 9, 2010.
• City Point Comprehensive Plan was received.
• Notice received informing Board of penalty and interest on June 30, 2008, late filing of payroll taxes.
Town Hall Roof – The south side shingles are failing. After discussion, decision is to get a contractor’s opinion on extent of damage, possibility of leaks, etc. If roof needs replacing, considering steel/metal roof instead of shingles.
Current CD is up for renewal. Motion by Supervisor Gardner seconded by Supervisor Meis to cash the CD and place in the general account to meet upcoming expenses. Motion carried.
The next meeting will be Monday, August 9, 2010, at 6:30 p.m. to conduct normal Town business
The bills, 2nd quarter 2010 payroll tax and 2008 penalty/interest payments to IRS were presented for payment. Moved by Supervisor Meis and seconded by Supervisor Gardner to make all payments as presented. Motion carried.
Motion made by Supervisor Gardner and seconded by Supervisor Meis to adjourn. Motion carried.
Chairman Miner adjourned the meeting at 7:00 pm.
