Town of Hiles Board Meeting
Wednesday, June 6, 2012
Hiles Town Hall
Chairman Trent Miner called the meeting to order at 6:35 pm.
Present were: Chairman Trent Miner, Supervisor Mark Gudel, Treasurer Kimberly Miner, and Clerk Janice Schultz.
The minutes of the Wednesday, May 9, 2012, Hiles Town Board meeting were presented. Moved by Supervisor Gudel and seconded by Chairman Miner to approve the minutes as presented. Motion carried.
The Treasurer’s report was presented and is attached. Moved by Supervisor Gudel and seconded by Chairman Miner to approve as presented. Motion carried.
Reviewed the Road Inspection Report. Placed on file
Discussed timeline for Kurt Creek Road improvements – Chairman met with Wood County Highway Dept., and they looked at the road again and figure that the cost will be up a little bit from last years quote of $86K, but that it should be below $100K—this includes extra work for a better road. They hope to have it completed by Sept. 1st, at the latest.
Discussed Town Hall landscaping – Nothing has been done since the hall has been built and now that the blacktop is finally completed; there are some issues both around the hall itself and around the edges of the blacktop. We can buy the materials and have the EG crew (Huber releases) do the work. Consensus was to have the EG Crew do the work and for the Chairman to order the needed materials.
The Town of Dexter has approved the version of the road agreement proposed by the Town of Hiles for Koppen Road. Each Township will conduct routine road inspections. Town of Dexter shall contract for grading and snowplowing and bill Town of Hiles for its half. All other maintenance will be the responsibility of Town of Hiles for the south 0.5 miles and Town of Dexter for the north 0.5 miles. Moved by Supervisor Gudel and seconded by Chairman Miner to approve the road agreement as outlined in the proposal. Motion carried.
Discussed Dexterville Cemetery project – There are 7 big pine trees that are dead and need to come out. The Hiles Family got a quote of $200.00/tree to remove, but they didn’t have enough in their savings to cover the entire cost. They were hoping to have the Towns of Dexter, Hiles, the family, and the HoChunk Nation help with the costs. What ended up happening was the HoChunk Nation came through with all of the necessary funding.
• Received logging notice for Dan Konietski
• Federal government has relaxed some of the standards for signage requirements and timelines they had originally proposed. The Town Board has adopted a sign policy. Although the basic mandate of having high reflectivity signs has not changed, The Town’s sign policy is still a usable policy.
• Review of June 5 Election. The Town had 110 registered voters and an additional 9 residents registered to vote on June 5. A total of 88 ballots were cast.
• Clerk received request for absentee ballot information in accordance with WI Open Records Law. Information e-mailed June 4, 2012. Copy on file
• Received copy of Survey Map #9432 of Jibril Odogba unplatted lands.
The next Town meeting will be Thursday, July 12, 2012, at 6:30 pm.
The bills were presented for payment. Moved by Supervisor Gudel and seconded by Chairman Miner to make all payments as presented. Motion carried.
Motion made by Supervisor Gudel and seconded by Chairman Miner to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried.
Chairman Miner adjourned the meeting at 7:05 pm.
