Tuesday, June 8, 2010
Town of Hiles Hall
Chairman Trent Miner called the meeting to order at 6:35 pm.
Members present were: Chairman Trent Miner, Supervisor Steve Meis, and Clerk Janice Schultz.
Visitor present was representative from American Asphalt.
The minutes of the May 13, 2010, Hiles Town Board meeting were read. Moved by Supervisor Meis and seconded by Chairman Miner to approve as presented. Motion carried.
The Treasurer’s report was presented and is attached. Moved by Supervisor Meis and seconded by Chairman Miner to approve as presented. Motion carried.
Update on Berry Road. Bids from American Asphalt and Wood County Highway Department were opened and read. American Asphalt came in at $104,830.88 and Wood County came in at $89,804.51. American Asphalt gave a per ton estimate as well as a total cost. Wood County Highway Department gave only a total cost. Supervisor Meis made a motion to place the bids on file, have Chairman Miner get a clarification from the State, and award the job to the lowest eligible bidder. Seconded by Chairman Miner. Motion carried.
Correspondence:
• Received informational letter clarifying laws on alcohol beverage tasting events.
• Notice received that the Wisconsin Property Assessment Manual (WPAM) is now online with following highlights: Assessor Competency, Assessor Certification & Recertification, Annual review of Agricultural Classification, New Court Decisions, Changes in Exemptions. The January 1, 2012, assessment must be in compliance with USPAP and IAAO standards. Municipalities must maintain parcel data in electronic form as of January 1, 2013, assessment. Board will get clarification form Assessor Wegner on what is or is not in electronic form.
• Received from Department of Revenue the January 1, 2010, 100% full market value of manufacturing real estate and personal property assessment rolls for Town of Hiles. Information was verified and placed on file.
• Building Number Identification Lists were received May 26, 2010. Lists were checked for accuracy and placed on file.
• Information on the hearing dates and comments due date on Wind Siting Rules was received from the Public Service Commission of WI and shared with the Board. Information placed on file.
• The dates for the Responsible Beverage Service classes was shared with the Board and placed on file.
• June 15, 2010, is the deadline for public comment on the Biomass Fuel facility in Rothchild.
• The Tobacco Free Coalition of Central WI has a new coordinator for Wood, Portage, and Marathon Counties. Since we do not have any retail tobacco sales in the Town of Hiles, no further action needs to be taken.
The next meeting will be Wednesday, July 7, 2010, at 6:30 p.m. to conduct normal Town business
The bills and quarterly payroll were presented for payment. Moved by Supervisor Meis and seconded by Chairman Miner to pay all bills as presented. Motion carried.
Motion made by Supervisor Meis and seconded by Chairman Miner to adjourn. Motion carried.
Chairman Miner adjourned the meeting at 7:02 pm.
