Hiles Town Board Meeting
March 10, 2009
Hiles Town Hall
Members present: Chairman Trent Miner, Supervisor Steve Meis, Treasurer Kimberly Miner
Member absent: Supervisor Tom Gardner
Also Present: Janice Schultz, Ken Schwab of Rural Insurance
Chairman Trent Miner called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.
The minutes from the last meeting were read. Moved by Meis, seconded by Miner to approve them as presented. Motion carried.
The treasurer’s report was presented and is attached. Moved by Meis, seconded by Miner to approve it as presented. Motion carried.
The following correspondence was shared:
• A letter from the Town of Dexter Planning Commission regarding their upcoming comprehensive planning process and an invitation to attend their meetings. This is being sent because we are a neighboring township. We will also receive a copy of their completed plan per state statute.
• A survey from the Wood County Planning and Zoning Dept. regarding our opinion on county wide regulation of wind turbines and telecommunications towers. Consensus was that this should remain a local issue.
• Letter from Wisconsin Towns Association regarding federal stimulus funding. Not much will be able to help towns because of the criteria. Nothing qualifies in the Town of Hiles.
• Letter from Wood County Surveyor Kevin Boyer asking that he be notified of any upcoming road projects. Miner will give him our tentative plan for Berry Road.
• Response was shared from Town of City Point Clerk Tina Ellis-Coyle regarding ATV trails and snow plowing of Cranberry Road.
• Bridge inspection reports were shared. Miner will get more information from the engineering technician on recommendations for maintenance.
• Letter from the Town of Cedarburg regarding town’s ability, or lack thereof, in getting TIF districts within our borders. They recommended contacting our state senator.
Ken Schwab presented the premium notice for the town’s workmans comp policy and our regular liability policy. The liability is lower than last year because Ken changed the renewal date from May 7th to April 1st to correspond to our workmans comp renewal. A check was issued for these insurances.
The ATV ordinance was tabled until next month when Gardner will be in attendance.
The annual meeting date was changed from Tuesday, April 14th to Monday April 13th. The town board will meet at 6:30 p.m. and the Annual Meeting will start at 7:00 p.m.
The election workers for April 7th will be Cody Miner as chief election inspector, Harry Curtin and Amy Miner. Janeen Wegner was unable to serve.
The bills were presented for payment. Moved by Meis, seconded by Miner to pay all bills presented. Motion carried.
The next meeting will be held on April 13, 2009 at 6:30 p.m. and the Annual Meeting will be held at 7:00 p.m.
Motion by Meis, seconded by Miner to adjourn. Motion carried at 7:10 p.m.
