HILES TOWN BOARD MEETING
September 9, 2009
Hiles Town Hall
PRESENT: Chairman Trent Miner, Supervisors Tom Gardner and Steve Meis, Clerk Jan Schultz.
Meeting was called to order by Chairman Trent Miner at 6:35 pm.
The Minutes of the August 6 meeting were read. Moved by Gardner and seconded by Meis to approve as read. Motion carried.
The Treasurer’s Report was presented and is attached. Moved by Meis and seconded by Gardner to approve as presented. Motion carried.
ROADS UPDATE:
Berry Road construction update: culverts in and ditches done. Bulldozer work to be done by next week if weather holds.
Wallace Road patching is done. Nice job. Bill came in under quote.
Received verification that the 2010 Local Road Certification was received by the WI DOT and was placed on file.
Update on LP for Town Hall by Gardner: Has found a used tank for $500 and will be purchased within the next month.
CORRESPONDENCE:
Towns Association meeting was hosted by Town of Hiles on August 21. Meeting and luncheon went well. Thanks to town officials and spouses for serving the lunch and providing the desserts.
Received logging notice from John Urban and placed on file.
Equalized Valuation report was shared with the Board. There is a 7.7% increase due to the jump in wooded land. Jerry Wegner will be following up on this increase at the Assessors Training Meeting. Since there were no sales the past year, the County Equalization and Assessment/Sales Ratio Analysis reports were not received. The Wausau Office is sending a blend report of surrounding towns for future reference. The County Apportionment, Statement of Changes in Equalized Values (Report 2), and Net New Construction 2009 reports were obtained from their website and shared with the Board.
The Wisconsin Towns Association Convention in Stevens Point will not be attended this year. The needed information will be received at the District meeting in February. Attendance at this meeting will constitute recertification for Board of Review.
The census materials received at the Town Association meeting were presented. No action taken at this time and materials placed on file.
The Demographic Services Center gave preliminary estimate of Town of Hiles population as 187--a decrease of 1 from the 2000 Census Count--with an estimated 128 of the estimated population of voting age. Also, reported a net change of 1 housing unit for the 2008 calendar year--did not indicate whether this was an increase or decrease. Report placed on file.
BILLS: Motion by Gardner and seconded by Meis to pay the bills as presented. Motion carried.
The next meeting will be October 12 at 6:30 pm.
Motion by Meis and seconded by Gardner to adjourn. Motion carried.
Chairman Trent Miner adjourned the meeting at 7:10 pm.
